A More Permanent Alternative
Thread-Tox® does not tighten the skin; instead, it knocks out the nerves underneath. Along with softening lines, the procedure is so nerve-specific that other facial muscles move as normal. This means that the forehead is not rendered completely stiff, preventing that “frozen” overly “toxed look”. Another bonus: the procedure has the affect of lifting the inner eyebrow. As the “frowning” nerves between the eyes are severed, (those that make that annoying furrow between the brows) the inner eyebrow raises and can give the appearance of a more open, younger face. Even better, Thread-Tox ® is permanent 70% of the time! (It is possible for some of the nerve to regenerate.)
While Thread-Tox® patients might still receive periodic cosmetic injections in other forehead areas, sometimes keeping the glabella (frowning nerves between the eyes that makes that annoying furrow between the brows) relaxed can, over time, soften wrinkles in other forehead areas, as well.
An observed effect of this treatment has been that eyebrows gradually tend to become more elevated and horizontal forehead lines reduced, potentially eliminating the need for elective surgery or cosmetic injections entirely for some patients.
How Much Does it Cost?
Thread-Tox® was developed by prominent cosmetic surgeon Guillermo Blugerman from Argentina, and was published in the Dermatologic Surgery Journal. It is safe and quick, taking only 10 minutes in the office to perform. It costs approximately $750.00 to perform, about the cost of two normal injectable sessions.
In 2010, Dr. Wade of Wade Laser Clinic obtained the registered patent to this procedure for the United States. He is currently the one of only U.S. physicians offering this service.
